JANUARY 5, 2016  First meeting of the New Year and we will be starting a Knit-a-long, making a beaded (or not) purse with some openwork.  Bring any yarn and appropriate needles; pattern will be provided as well as beads.  Hoping for good weather as we have cancelled the past 2 years!

November:  Busy first week with Guild meeting on Tuesday followed by Ann Weaver Workshop on Saturday.  Both well attended.  Member Terry Sayler led guild members in a "how to" knit Knitted Knockers, one of our charity projects.  The Dots and Dashes Shawl created by Ann using Neighborhood Fiber Company yarn will showcase color and texture once they are completed.  Ann explained and demonstrated color theory with her own work and those of artists.

November 3 meeting:  Come early as the Yarn Doctors will be in at 6:30.  Then Terry will lead us through knitting and putting together a Knitted Knocker.  Marcia will have the yarn; just bring size 6 needles (circular or straight) and some stitch markers.

October meeting:  Feel Good Yarn does feel very good with cotton and silver spun together.  Another large group of members enjoyed the trunk show with Laurie.

October 6:  Feel Good Yarn Company founder and owner Laura Gonyea will tell us about her cotton yarn spun with pure silver with the feel of cashmere and present a Trunk Show.  Come prepared to add this yarn to your stash!  Read more about her and the company at http://feelgoodyarnco.com/our-story.html

SEPTEMBER 1 MEETING:  new year, new programs and DUES ARE DUE ($25).


AUGUST 4 MEETING:  Election of officers;  Lee and Karen unanimously re-elected.
                                        and the annual YARN SWAP.  Everyone left with something!

JULY MEETING:  July 7 - guest speaker: Beverly Helberger, alpaca breeder in Tracy's                                     Landing, MD         http://www.alpacaville.us/

June 2:  Speaker: Lynn Beattie, Hunt Valley Cashmere, introduced us to her goats and then the wonderful cashmere yarn those and other goats produce.  We shopped and shopped in her baskets and marveled at all the samples she brought, from afghans to shawls to sweaters and gloves.  Lynn donated a kit of cashmere as a door prize and Terry was the lucky winner. Again, we had a wonderful crowd of avid knitters.

May, our annual "End of Year Dinner" brought out many members in their knitted finery.

Several local shops donated door prizes.  We thank them all.

 Marcia's challenge to knit a scarf for the Breast Center was a huge success.

   *Ravelry continues to change and evolve with lots of tips and ideas for its members
   *Tips:  every Thursday there is a new one on the homepage so we can upgrade our knowledge
   *Road Trip Planner: under "Yarns" down the left column, there is a link to "Going on a trip" that allows you to organize your ride with stops at LYSs
   *Tags: great way to organize all those patterns moved to "Favorites" so you can quickly find the one you want when you want it
   *Groups:  find other like-minded knitters/crocheters nearby
Meeting very well attended with several new members. "Knit Doctors" were "in" for the first time and provided advice to several members; they will return occasionally.
